MerchantAI provides messaging options for interacting with an agent and delivering operational information.
Slack: converse with an agent
A Slack integration lets authorized users communicate with a MerchantAI agent through their Slack workspace.
To configure it:
- Open the main Agents page and select Integrations for the relevant agent.
- Select Messaging, then expand Slack.
- Complete the settings shown: Slack Bot Token, Slack App Token, Slack Allowed Users, and Slack Home Channel ID.
- Save the changes.
The configured Slack app credentials and authorization settings govern how the agent communicates through Slack. Slack-originated sessions can be identified by a SLACK label in the Chat conversation history.
Email Delivery: send reports and requests for input
Email Delivery is MerchantAI's outbound operational-email capability. It is intended for messages such as:
- Results of scheduled or long-running tasks
- Reports and findings
- Notifications about work that requires attention
- Questions that require a person's input
Configure the Allowed Recipients list under the Messaging integration settings. Agents can send through this tool only to the approved addresses.
Email Delivery is not intended as a customer-marketing email tool. For marketing campaigns, configure an appropriate customer engagement integration instead.
Two different purposes
- Slack: A channel for conversations with the agent.
- Email Delivery: A restricted way for the agent to initiate operational emails to approved recipients.
